Acne can be caused by different things and there is no miracle cure that can make acne disappear overnight and never come back again. However, there are ways to naturally control the oiliness of the skin and to reduce any irritation or inflammation of the skin. Facial masks made from natural ingredients can help to relieve a lot of the problems associated with oily skin like acne. Although they may not be a cure, they can go a long way in easing skin problems brought about by acne.
Baking Soda Facial Mask
This is probably the easiest facial mask to make and requires only two ingredients baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and water. Make sure that you use baking soda and not baking powder. All you need to do is to mix a little baking soda with water to make a paste. Wash your face with a mild soap or face cleanser and then coat your face with the baking soda paste. Leave it on for as long as you can. You can read a book or do some chores around the house in the meantime. Rinse the mask off with water and feel the softness right away. Use this mask 3 to 4 times a week to help ease your acne.
Egg White Face Mask
A lot of people have reported great results with this face mask. All you need is egg white of one egg. You can use an egg separator or separate the yolk from the white manually. Whip the egg white until it becomes frothy and apply it on your previously washed face. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes and rinse it off with warm water. The egg white will help your skin tighten a bit and it also relieves redness. However, avoid using this face mask if you are allergic to eggs.
Mint Leaves Facial Mask
You will need to use fresh mint leaves and crush them finely. Apply the paste on the area where acne is at its worst or you can simply apply it gently all over your face. Do not rub the mint onto your skin. Apply it gently. Leave the crushed mint leaves on your face for about 15 minutes then rinse it off with water. Use the mask at least once weekly for best results.
Aloe Vera Gel Face Mask
Scoop out the gel of the aloe leaf onto a bowl and add some fine salt if your skin is really very oily. Apply it on your face twice a day. If you have combination skin, you can add a few drops of lemon juice. Leave the mask dry on your face then rinse it off with water. This also eases skin inflammation and skin irritation.
Cottage Skin Mask
Mix two tablespoons of either fat-free or low-fat cottage cheese with an equal amount of carrot juice or tomato juice (strawberry juice also works well), and blend in a food processor or mixer. Add a pinch of sea salt and stir well. Apply the mask on your face and allow it to dry. Apply a second layer and leave it on for about 5 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water and pat dry.
Honey Face Mask
Apply some honey on your face and leave it on for at least 15 minutes. Rinse it off with water and pat dry.
