A general surgeon has expertise in the diagnosis and care of patients with diseases and disorders affecting the abdomen, digestive tract, endocrine system, breast, skin, and blood vessels. He is also trained in the care of pediatric and cancer patients and in the treatment of patients who are injured or critically ill.

    Alberto B. Roxas, MD

    I completed my training in General Surgery in 1981 and Colorectal Surgery in 1983 in the Philippine General Hospital. Then I joined the Faculty of the UP College of Medicine, UP Manila in 1984. I am a Diplomate of both the Philippine Board of Surgery and the Philippine Board of Colon & Rectal Surgery. I am a Fellow of both the Philippine College of Surgeons and the Philippine Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons. I also became the President of both organizations in 2001 and 1997, respectively. Since 1983, I practiced General & Colorectal Surgery in PGH and Manila Doctors Hospital. I retired from UP Manila in 2015. Now, I practiced only in Manila Doctors Hospital, where I am the Chairman of its Department of Surgery in 2016-2021.
