The practice of Nuclear Medicine involves the use of small amounts of radioactive materials to help diagnose and treat variety of diseases like cancer and other medical conditions affecting the thyroid gland. It determines the cause of the medical problem based on the function of the organ. This is how Nuclear Medicine differs from X-ray, ultrasound and other diagnostics tests.
